The draw is that you are the owner, or general manager, or coach — however you see it — of a professional team that you put together. Everybody thinks he knows more than the next guy, or that he can put together a better team than, say, the Mets. Fantasy gives you a chance to see it play out. A lot of leagues play for money, too, but you can join without any payment. Just play for fun.
